CASE 2: THE THESIS

Jason Smart was an immature undergraduate student as many other students can be and Nelson Nice could consider this situation as normal. After receiving that request from Jason, a strict idea could be not sending the project since he did not participate at all in his undergraduate years. But if we look in a forgiving way, which I think he should be; Nelson can think that Jason has learnt his lesson and understood the mistakes he have made while he was helping with the project and he can send the result of the project to Jason for showing different aspects of the subject to him as a visionary teacher.

After sending him the project and facing such a problem the right thing for Nelson Nice to do would be informing the administrative personnel of the graduate school Jason was studying in, but since several years have passed there may not be an effect on anything. Another thing that can be done is talking to Jason face to face and telling him that his actions may have saved him today but those actions will not help in his future life. This approach of Nelson could not be effective on people like Jason but there may be a small chance that Jason understands him and corrects his actions, otherwise at least Nelson Nice had did the right thing for this problem. He could have followed Jason’s works closely as the subject is a relevant to Nelson too. Or if the graduate school of Jason was using a system that checks the originality of the reports and thesis Nelson could have submitted the project to that system. But there is no way of guessing what would have happened so Nelson can take precautions for the future based on this situation and while working with new students he can inspect them closely and set some ground rules that will make the students work properly. And while choosing a student to work with, he may look up to more criterias than he has used before. But again there would be some problems like he had...
