a. What is SWOT analysis? How does SWOT analysis craft a strategy that helps you to differentiate yourself from your competitors, so you can compete successfully in your market?

Answer: SWOT Analysis is defined as “A comparison of strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats for strategy formulation purposes.” When it comes to competition this is a very important step that is needed in order to be successful. This helps me see my strong points and where my opportunities stand in order to fulfil my task at hand. At the same time this lets me see my weaknesses, so I am aware of what I need to work on. Also I can knowledge and become familiar with my threats. When there is competition it’s important to stand out in a positive way. With this at hand I can remain focused, along with being more prepared then my competition. It’s also important that I’m aware of my firms SWOT analysis, so I can be prepared for what needs to happen next.

b. Explain the different forms of sexual harassment as recognized by the EEOC.

Answer: Sexual harassment is defined as “Unwelcomed advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature in the working environment.” There are two main types of sexual harassment, Quid pro quo and Hostile. Quid pro quo harassment occurs when there is an expressed demand for sexual favors in exchange for some form of benefit or to get out of a situation. For example, if an employer with seniority lets an employee get out of a demotion by using sexual favors. On the other hand we have hostile work environment. This is very severe and interferes with employee’s ability to continue the task at hand. This can become aggressive, embarrassing, or even threating.

c. Explain Herzberg’s Motivation- Hygiene Theory. What are the motivator factors that increase job satisfaction and the Hygiene factors that don’t motivate employees? Do you agree with this theory? Explain reasoning.
