Abstract

This paper will discuss the process of implementing an information system within a care management organization. Many care managed companies face challenges related to coordination of care due to manual workflows that do not meet state, federal and also compliance with HIPAA regulations. The goal of this organization is to deliver patient centered care with current workflow process in an integrated system, which allows collaboration between care managers, doctors and members. This will streamline data collection to produce comprehensive reporting, a consolidated view of the patients and a connected healthcare system.

Analysis of a Healthcare Information System

Healthcare information systems are designed for collecting, storing and manipulating clinical data that is important to the delivery of healthcare (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality 2012). Montefiore’s Care Management Organization CMO is a provider driven healthcare management company that performs managed care functions delegated under full risk contracts and care coordinated services. CMO currently has over 50,000 patients, and is a licensed utilization review agent and claims adjuster. Zeomega designed Jiva a software for healthcare management, this system will store clinical data such as a patient’s past medical history and interactions with care providers.

The Stakeholders

According to Whitten & Bentley (2009) a Stakeholder is any person who has an interest in an existing or proposed information system. Care Management Organization (CMO) is interested in purchasing Zeomega’s healthcare management software Jiva.

Identify the stakeholders

Stakeholders are the President and Vice President, Chief medical officer, Executive Managers, Nurse Informaticist, Financial Analyst, Legal team, and IT staff of CMO.
