Russian Economic Development in Relations to the United States

Abstract

The Russian culture is vibrant, rich and infused with many values and traditions. Russia is known for its arts, music, ballets, literature, cinema, theatre, and cuisine. Russia’s national religion is Orthodox Christianity, however, the country is diverse with Judaism, Islam, and Buddhism among other religions practiced. Some other elements of Russia’s cultural include family values, and the national language, Russian. Soviet Russia, their communist past, is an element of the country’s history that the effects are still seen through the social consciousness, integrity, business practices, and ethics. The Russian class system ranges from wealthy to poor, the middle class is almost nonexistent. In order to grasp and understand the cultural dimensions that shape modern day Russia, there must be an understanding of their history or past events. This paper will address the cultural dimensions of Russia and how those elements affect business. This research paper will also compare the business practices and cultural dimensions of Russia to the United States of America and explain any implications for US businesses that wish to conduct business with Russia.
