The good side of legalizing soft drugs

Treating soft drugs in this modern society as hard drugs like cocaine or heroine is nonsense. Soft drugs like magic mushroom or marijuana are not more harmful than cigarettes or alcohol, and marijuana can even be used for curative purposes. Hence, soft drugs should be legal and accessible for everyone. I would like to highlight the medical marijuana aspect of this topic

In Hungary, around eight hundred thousand people smoke marijuana at least once a week. How do they get it? The answer is simple, get in contact with a dealer. A dealer who might sell or gets in connection with other drugs, even hard drugs like cocaine. These traffickers - maybe just indirectly - are in the same network as the mafia. Therefore, people are giving their money to the mob. There is still no guarantee for the quality. If the government would legalize it, they can control who can get it, they can ensure that the customers get the best quality which is really important for the medical and recreational use, for the best price possible.

Another important aspect of legalization is the financial part.Planting and the production of marijuana is not really expensive. It does not require any special treatment for exception of some needs of lights, but since the energy is fairly cheap in Hungary, it will not raise the prices that much.Nowadays, the highest tax rate is around eighty percent and it is tobacco products. If the government had used this standard on marijuana, it would make BILLIONS of profit to the government,each year, because every part of the plant can be used for something useful. Not to mention the rearrangement of the forces those are “chasing” people and are against citizens using soft drugs.

Legalizing soft drugs would be a logical step for the government towards flexibility. Securing the quality would give people a kind of security feeling, while it would have a great impact on the country’s economy. The rules currently are very...
