I. Introduction
A. Background of the Study
In recent years, the emergence of cellular phones has changed the way people communicating a lot. Mobile phone creates a trend that may have a lasting influence on the present generation. It changes the way people interact with each other and makes the people’s lives and works more convenient.
However, not all of its effects have been positive. Lacking of face-to-face communication is one major result of this. The virtual text-messaging connection changes our social behavior and communication skills. It has not only been a tool for constantly connecting right away with loved ones but also been a way to hide true feelings inside the message.
The wide spread adoption of mobile phones has greatly influenced the physical and emotional confrontation of people by providing them the ability to connect on their environment easily and conveniently thus yielding impersonal contacts, hindering social behavior and skills and allows the person a degree of control over the presentation of himself. The expansion of use and increased dependency on text messaging as a common form of communication over the past years replaces an individual’s ability to interact and communicate verbally with others.
Individuals who show increased dependency on mobile phones could not be able to interact with other human beings that result into isolation. Too much reliance on electronic methods of communication can decrease vital personal interaction.
