List and define 3 of the 5 elements in fiction.

SETTING, Stories actually have two types of settings Physical and Chronological,The physical setting is of course where the story takes place. The “where” can be very general a small farming community, for example or very specific a two story white frame house at 14125 W Avalon Rd in Goodyear, Arizona.The chronological setting, the “when,” can be equally general or specific.

Character, In literature, also in real life, we evaluate character in three ways, what the individual says, what the individual does, and what others say about him or her. I think the main character should stand out in a story, and the reader could pick out the protagonist from the other characters.

CONFLICT, Two types of conflict are possible, External and Internal. External conflict could be man against nature, or man against man, for example, there are people in a small boat in the ocean during a violent storm. Internal conflict might not seem as exciting as external, I think that real life has far more internal than external conflict.

In the short story “Sonny’s Blues”, Sonny’s brother is the narrator. What point of view is this?

The story is a first person observer, a first person narration using an "observer" means that the narrating character is an observer of the protagonist, not the protagonist themselves. Such as Sonny's brother since he is a secondary character, not the main character.

In the short story, “The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas”, why is the filthy child locked in the storeroom introduced?

The child is introduced because they are an important factor in the ideology of the residents of Omelas who are told that if the child is freed, the society of Omelas will collapse, and everything that is good about the city will disappear, which is of the main reasons they keep the child captive.
