My reflection paper is a reflection on two topics that are very important to Christianity. The first topic I will discuss is God’s grace. The next topic will be God’s love. I believe that these two topics help lay the foundation for an individual’s walk with Christ.

God’s Grace

Theological Definition

Grace is defined as “that which God does for mankind through His son, which mankind cannot earn, does not deserve, and will never merit” (www.Bible.org). It can be described as “the unmerited favor of God toward man”. God’s grace will change a sinner’s life.

Biblical Foundation

God’s grace can be found throughout the Bible. It is first noted in Genesis 6:8 where “Noah found grace (favor) in the eyes of the Lord”. Another instance where grace is noted in scripture is Ephesians 2: 8 says “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God (ESV)”. The epistles of Paul has the most references to God’s grace than any other book of the Bible. To receive God’s grace, we need to “humble ourselves, put away our sins, and have faith which is working through our undying love in our Lord Jesus Christ (www.amazingwisdom.com)”.

Practical Application

I know that if it were not for God’s saving grace, I do not know where I would be today. There are things which I have done in my past where I should be dead or in jail. But by the grace of God, I was saved and delivered. I love to thank Him on a daily basis for all the things that He has done for me in my past and for all that He is doing for me now and for all the things He will do for me in the future. Thank you Jesus!!!!!

Love

Theological Definition

The primary meaning of the word “love” in Scripture is a “purposeful commitment to sacrificial action for another. In the Bible, it is a fact that loving God is equated with obeying His Word (www.bible-truth.org)”. The Bible talks about three types of love: Agapao, Phileo, and Eros.
