Purpose:

As a young boy, I was a victim of bullying from a young age, up until I was in high school. I never understood why I was the chosen kid to be bullied in my childhood. Because of the bullying I received on the bus, at school and in sports, my confidence was gone. It was not until high school that I was finally free of the bullies that plagued my younger years. As an adult now, I am keenly attentive to any, all bullying that goes on around me, and I refuse to allow it in my presence. I feel as though I am a one-man army contending with bullying. I see a need for change, which is why I spent countless days researching programs, policies and legislation that is in the works to eradicate bullying. There are only a few places that I feel I can have an impact. The focus population I chose is one that I feel I can make the most impact. I hope to educate the group on bullying and its forms, in an effort to open their young impressionable eyes to bullying and its effects. I also would like to broaden my own personal understanding of the resources that are available for those who need education. In addition, understand better my future responsibility as a practitioner.

Population:

I chose a youth Boy Scout group. The ages in this group will range from ten to twelve years old. I chose this age group due to their ability to be impressionable. I am one of their current scout leaders. As a leader for these boy's I have a responsibility to teach them to be better members of the community by upholding the scout oath and laws. I take this responsibility very seriously, working hard each week to make an impact in their lives. The data in my research marks this age group as the most likely to manifest bully and victim relationships. As their leader, I feel I can stop the bullying now by educating them.
