MGT 435 – Organizational Change
Week – DQ 1 Examples of Organizational Change
“Organizational change is a process that moves companies from a present state to a desired future state with goals of enhancing their effectiveness for their clients/customers.”(Weiss, 2012)
When I initially pursued a college education after high school, the idea of online-college education was not something most, if not all, seniors ever gave a thought about. I completed two years of college at CUNY’s Borough of Manhattan. Today, with the evolution of technology and more adults wanting to obtain college degrees too enhance their career, online education’s success has nearly mirrored the success of the internet. The sophistication and presentation of materials and information for students (customers) has improved to online instructors who can be heard and seen through video and audio-based chat rooms and lectures while they teach in interactive forum in real-time to people throughout the country. More universities are making the organizational change to offer online courses to keep up with their competitors. Employees can now juggle work and school along with their personal life with the flexibility of a virtual classroom. Being able to work independently because of the ability of having access to vast amounts of information at your fingertips anywhere anytime is an affordable luxury because of advanced programs. Technology is a critical element of organizational transformation that will continue to progressively increase in sophistication and efficiency.
