IntreClean is moving toward the solution-based selling and implementing a new sales team. In trying to move forward, our sales team will need to go through some training not only about the sales aspect, but also training his or her customer’s employees on our product solutions and systems. We however have to look at the training and mentoring needs of our organization. First training is a “planned program designed to improve performance at the individual, group, and organizational levels (Casico, 2005).” Whereas the meaning of “improved performance” implies that measurable changes occurred in knowledge, skills, attributes, and social behavior.

Second IntreClean should know the types of training trends. As the economy keeps shifting, trends change. This happens through companies downsizing, merging, acquisitions, and shifting from manufacturing to service jobs. Third, IntreClean needs to determine the effectiveness of training. Training’s success is not just based on quality but the individual’s readingness and support for the training. This factor is the key to the mentoring need as well. I believe it to be the responsibility of a manager and supervisor to provide the support for training. A manager should motivate to participate in training because an individual characteristic along with the work environment are an important influence in training. During the training process, of course, is learning the skills. After training the influencing in transferring those skills and learning to the job.

IntreClean should ask, “What it is the employees should learn relating to desired job behaviors?” We then should assess our training needs, using the four levels of analysis to determine our needs to fulfill training.
