Prostate Cancer was first discovered during the year 1536, by a Vientiane anatomist Niccolò Massa. Early prostate cancer usually has little to no symptoms, but once the cancer has spread beyond the prostate then you may have problems with having to urinate frequently, stopping or starting the urinating process, leaking urine while coughing or laughing, standing up and urinating, burning sensations while taking place in urinating or ejaculation, and having blood show up in your urine and semen. Treatments for this type or cancer include surgery, chemotherapy, cryotherapy, hormonal therapy, or radiation. The American Cancer Society estimates that more than 232,000 new cases of prostate cancer are diagnosed annually in the United States and over 30,000 men will die of this disease each year. Prostate cancer is prevented by eating more low-fat, high-fiber foods and foods with omega-3 fatty acids. Once the cancer extends beyond the confines of the prostate, it may spread locally, directly affecting tissues and organs near the prostate. I found it interesting that men who have a father or brother with prostate cancer have a higher chance of developing prostate cancer than men with so such history. In the past years it shows that about 250-300 million is donated for research on this type of cancer. The relative 5-year survival rate is almost 100%, the relative 10-year survival rate is 99%, and the 15-year relative survival rate is 94%. The cancer does have a genetic relation to whom will be diagnosed with it.
