1. INTRODUCTION:
With the material progress, our lives have been filled up with abundant comfort and facilities. But at the same time, complexities have also amplified. Our minds are filled up with stress, peace of mind is lost. The external life has excelled at the cost of the inner front. Man has forgotten ‘self’ in the course of enhancing external information and knowledge. Why diseases are increasing with the advent of medical science? Why cases of depression are growing rapidly in spite of increase in gadgets for material pleasure? The time is to look for the missing link.
The optimistic view says the time is slowly changing. From past several years, man has turned his attention inwards. Spirituality is gaining grounds not only in our personal lives but also at the workplaces. Eastern knowledge of spirituality and some of its practices such as Yoga, Meditation etc have been largely recognized worldwide as instruments to attain peace of mind and inner strength. It has also entered into the realm of the western countries. Here I will be focusing on the practice of Meditation, its scope and usefulness. Meditation is no more considered to be just a religious ritual practiced by monks, seers and sages. It has gained acceptance by masses and even the patrons of Science and rationality. The corporate world is also seeking help of this tool primarily for managing stress of the employees.
