Contraception

Tina and Dan are considering various birth control methods. They are a newly married couple who practiced abstinence before marriage and plan on starting their family within a year.

Choose possible methods of contraception for the couple and discuss the advantages and disadvantages they would need to consider at this point in their lives.

With Tina and Dan there are many methods that they can use for birth control. I do not really think if they want to start a family within a year that birth control pills would be a wise choice. As once you start taking the pill you will have to be off of them for so long to get them out of your system to conceive. One of the methods they could use would be the diaphragm. This is a shallow cup or dome made of rubber that should be used with a spermicide. This is inserted by the women and taken out by the women so she can stop using it any time she want’s to become pregnant and there would be no wait time. The advantage with this is there is no wait time on getting pregnant and it can be used as needed. Some of the disadvantages would be the failure rate is has with pregnancy or the problem of having to insert it before intercourse which could kill the mood. Then you have the contraceptive sponge which is similar to the diaphragm as it is inserted and does not make a person wait to become pregnant. The disadvantages would be that 1 in 20 that use it have a mildly irritation to it. Then we have the condom and some of the advantages of that would be they can be bought without a prescription and over the counter. They can be readily available when needed. They require no fitting as the diaphragm and iud would. The disadvantages is their partner could be allergic to the condom, it takes away some of the spontaneous of sex. And some women and men say that it does not fulfill their sex drive like having sex without a condom. They could use the...
