Happy Holiday Week, Students!

I couldn't resist making this another extra credit opportunity, given its timeliness.  For this discussion, please do a google search on the current Paula Deen racial-slur controversy.  Post a link into your submission of the article or articles you think best covered the issue, and (respectfully) discuss whether or not you think her actions are forgivable or not forgivable.  Then discuss whether you think her business empire will recover, and if so, what she needs to do to get her business partners back (think about Martha Stewart's fall from grace following her insider trading conviction and how she's rebuilt).

The shame of the controversy is that it will crush her business and her life at least for the moment. Sometimes we say things out of a fit of rage, anger or maybe even a moment of weakness. I am not really sure what the real story is behind the racial slur, but we all know the media grossly inflates stories for the ratings and/or sales. You can’t always trust what you read or hear. Allegedly it had something to do with a lawsuit against her brother and her restaurant. She also admitted to using the word numerous times, however, I am not sure what the controversy is. It happens sometimes. You never hear about John Doe using the N word or any other racial slur. It doesn’t ruin his career or finances. I am sure hundreds of celebrities have done this in the past.
