Causes and Solutions regarding Human Trafficking

The buying and selling of people for money has been common in the world especially in Asia. The victims are being approached by people also known as traffickers who lie to them with promises of getting good jobs, lots of money and better life prior to their previous situation. This is known as human trafficking. Over 400 years ago, Africans were carried over the Atlantic and exported to different parts of the world as bonded labour. Although the British settlers who settled in the New World started the African slave trade, Britain was main country to push for an end to African slave trade. In 1807, the British parliament banned slave trade and in 1833, slavery was abolished from British colonies. The basic reason why people are trafficked is because of money, “human trafficking

represents an estimated $32 billion of international trade per annum, of the illegal international trade estimated at $650 billion per annum in 2010”. As people are

trafficked they are owned by a person in fact they actually become slaves of that particular buyer and are involved in some forced activity such as prostitution, forced labour. Trafficking is paradoxically defined in great detail but at the same time, in great vagueness. But fundamentally an act of trafficking is constituted by action, means and exploitation There is many form of human trafficking that exist, the most common are sex trafficking (human trafficking for sexual exploitation) and labour trafficking Traffickers, also known as pimps exploit vulnerability and lack of opportunities while offering employment, education and better life.
