Environmental and Consumer Influences

Perfect Touch Cleaners was a company that was owned and operated by my family from 2007 through the end of 2013, and provided residential and commercial cleaning services. Ironically, we started our business due to the down-swing in the economy and the fact that my husband had been laid off and was having difficulty finding full-time work. I consider this ironic because this could be considered the political side of environmental factors. We needed to supplement his unemployment benefits in order to stay above water financially. We chose this type of business because it would allow us to make our own hours, inexpensive overhead and start-up costs, and we could price our services competitively. Additionally, we live in an area that maintains an affluent lifestyle, due to NASCAR, professional football and basketball teams, along with the third largest hospital system in the country. We felt the economy would not affect these groups as negatively as other areas of the country.
