Mediator

Good Evening ill be the mediator tonight. I will try helping you reach a consensus but I have to remind you that any agreement you reach tonight must be a product of your own free will. As a mediator my duty is to help you reach a consensus with impartiality fairness and honesty. First, together each party will expose its problem, then I will talk to each group separately, and finally we will meet together again to see if we reach a consensus. (Agreement)

Very important each party has to have enough data to support their case.

Problems: Teachers

1) Teachers want an increase of their wages of at least cost of living plus 7%.

2) Class size must be between 20 and 27 students.

3) Full dental and optical insurance with no co payment.

Problems: employer

1) Employers think that 10% increase in their wages is too much they will increase their wages to CPI for the cost of living but they cannot guarantee more than that.

2) They concern about the fact that if the number of students per class in maximum 20, where should they put the other.

3) They want them to pay $20.

Facts.

A) CPI June 2009 3.3% - July 2009 3.8% an increase that outstrip wages

B) The “rule” with CPS is that if you have more than 28 kids, you get another teacher.  So the max occupancy is 27.
