OCEAN Model Review on CEO Ann Fudge

While analyzing and comparing Ann Fudge to the five factor OCEAN (openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion agreeableness, neuroticism) model of personality I noticed the following. First Mrs. Fudge is very open to traveling, exploring new countries, and bettering herself and others with professional development. Her openness to experience was noted when she took a stance to go out and visit her employees around the organization. Her openness was also noted when she took a two year sabbatical to explore the world and herself. This was done not only for personal reasons but also for professional development and growth. The opportunity also allowed Ann time to reflect, gain inspiration, improve her health, attend yoga classes, and time to put her lessons learned on paper though writing a book on leadership. As for Conscientiousness, we see Mrs. Fudge putting all of the details together as she takes the organization from point A to point B. That is, transforming the organization from one that needed rescued to one being highly effective and prosperous. Mrs. Fudge is also very extraverted. We see this in her ability to connect with a variety of personalities and the willingness to want to get to know and understand the people that work for her. On agreeableness, Ann is able to get along with her subordinates and co-workers. She also made the comment that people are what make the organization and to “touch your organization” as much as possible. On Neuroticism, we did not see a lot of examples on this in relation to Mrs. Fudge, however, she is a successful business women. As a successful CEO of multiple corporations and her high credibility I’m sure we can assume she remains calm under pressure.
