Introduction:

The United States is also a country of great ethnic diversity and ethnic groups have actively influenced the making U.S foreign policy and it has an ever expanding nations, territorially, politically and economically (Richard Russell, 2000). In the history of the United States, the foreign policy has caused many disputes over the proper role in international affairs.

Brief Discussion:

The American power and influence in relation to other nations, there has been a continual evolving foreign policy. When the United States began, it was a small and weak nation, but as American grew its foreign policy grew with it. While the nation may have begun its existence as a weak nation, with a weak foreign policy to accompany it as the nation became more powerful its foreign policy expanded to a point where the United States is the most powerful and influential nation on the world (George C. Herring, 2008).

Throughout the world war American foreign policy was concentrated on winning the war and all costs, but afterward, President Franklin Roosevelt had planned for the United States to be one of the leaders of a new world order which would be governed by the new United Nations. However, International relations soon came to prominence and the United States found itself involved in the new Cold War with its former allay named the Soviet Union. In the Truman’s period the American foreign policy is to political, economical and military aid for those nations whose freedom was threatened (James M. McCormick, 2009). One manifesto of this idea was the Marshal Plan which invested million of US dollars for European recovery projects while another was the Unites States first permanent internal alliance which created NATO.
