The purpose of this ticket is to provide insight on implementation of new software called Cognos, which is often referred to as Business intelligence tool. This tool will not only improve the performance of the reports significantly but also have many additional features for example: analysis studio to create various kinds of reports for better business decisions. This IBM’s product used for reporting purposes can be implemented in various different environments such as integrated sales, marketing and development expertise that market a portfolio of our products. The project is called Financial Data warehouse which enables financial reporting and analyze processes with more consistent data access to core financial systems, and dramatically reduce the reliance on source systems for data collection.

This project will also help automate the process of reports generation for inventory and manufacturing concern. The system keeps track of different products, both raw materials and finished goods. The stock levels are automatically updated as goods received, issued, refused and adjusted. Reports are generated to provide monthly balances of various items and associated re-order levels.

We will follow the standardized and best practices for the migration strategy during the implementation process. This strategy will help us cut down cost and time for migrating applications. We need to make sure our implementation team has understanding of both technical and business requirements. All applications pertaining to BI should be examined and analyzed as an extension of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), which will alter our existing applications to the most efficient manner.

Prior to migration it is very important that we gather and document all the information related to current requirements and objectives and evaluate the infrastructure and data foundation and create an audit for application inventory and propose the migration model. We also need to evaluate...
