There are major differences between the society portrayed in the story and what it is now . Through this story we get to see how people trusted each other back then and how insecure our society is today. Back then, children wouldn’t hesitate to speak to strangers and today we suspect almost any stranger that approaches us friendly. At the time when the story was written people were very open and friendly whereas people have grown hesitant over the years due to the insecurity present in our society today.
