in america you have both muslim men and women are professionals so if you look at research they have the lowest pay gap. im just speculating but im guessing that male and females making the highest amount with some of the lowest pay gaps so both the male and ther female can survive on their own which in not characteristic of muslim majority countries with gender roles so females dont have careers and they are more dependant on the males. women are in charge of the house and have gender roles. more of a family unit in the west. east are first and second generation so still live in immigrant mindset and try and hold traditions isolated, but have to work which is a duality which doesnt exist in muslim majority countries which have a large home community then there is the larger muslim community. civil law and religious law differnt and seperated in the west. but if you talk to the muslim community than you will find out that some are traditional and they only find out after they are married. seen a lot of that in the community as well as differences between sects.
the courts will say they are divorced but they still need to get divorced by the church but will only grant the divorce if it is mutual. nikka is a marriage contract made by the woman, she can write anything in there and so can the man, they usually write in whatever the requirements are than are asked three times during the marriage ceremony if they agree to the nikka. and both parties have say yes three times agreeing to the compensation for divorce or even how many wives he is allowed to have. it outlines religious practices and expectations within the first year, it is very explicit.
