A Business Proposal to Increase Efficiency and Collaboration

Introduction

In response to concerns regarding our somewhat antiquated information systems in our sales department, our team has done research on ways to improve our current systems. Our sales department is one of the most important aspects of our business and we believe with this upgrade, our department can operate more efficiently than ever.

Goals

Our goal is to improve the efficiency of the current information systems used by the sales department of Party Plates. We are proposing the following upgrades/improvements:

➢ Conversion of the current information system from an Excel spreadsheet of an improved relational database system, Access.

➢ Improvement in current collaborative software being used to improve internal communication, utilization of a Point-of-Sale system.

➢ Streamline work processes for the Sales Department by:

1. Improving the credit process currently being used.

2. Implementation of a Lync system to stay connected in real-time.

Proposed Action

We will restructure the sales department from the ground up. We will begin by upgrading to Point of Sales (POS) System. The POS system will allow us to gain control of sales, inventory, ordering, and forecasting. A POS system will allow us to capture sales daily, weekly, monthly, and so on. It will allow us to track our inventory control, know what products sell faster, products that do not sale, and provide us our costs of goods. We will be able to pull reports that will help us with his financial data as well as tax information. Our POS system will interact with our main supplier to allow faster inventory turnaround times as well. Tracking our sales and inventory will allow us to forecast sales in the future so that we can start using a budget analysis for future prediction.
