Club IT, Part One

Club IT is a recently renovated downtown club owned and managed by Ruben Keys and Lisa Tejada. As college students, they supported themselves as working musicians and used their passionate music experience along with their college education to open a nightclub. Their high-energy club features live entertainment with disc jockey and live bands, dancing to hip-hop, techno, electronic, and some top 40s music. Although the Ruben and Lisa have managed to maintain the financial and business portion of the club, their next goal to accomplish is improving and enhancing their information management system. They have retained me as an intern to consult them on an implementation plan that will improve their data management in terms of utilizing the information technology with their day-to-day business and operation decision-making.

Club IT’s mission to provide a dance club of friends, where a community of friends frequently meets at the club to unwind, select and enjoy from a wide variety of refreshments, while enjoying the ambiance or dancing to a favorite song played by the live band or disc jockey. The club’s primary clientele consist of young professionals, adult students, singles or anyone who enjoys the art of dancing to hip-hop and techno music. After a brief update on the club’s history, current operations and club goals; one cannot ascertain the excitement the owners have created in the club and how the development and impletion of information technology systems will improve the aspects of operating the business.

Nowadays, information and intranet resources are critical components in the successful operations of a business. The first information system that comes to mind is the establishment of the club’s domain name for custom designed website to market and advertise the club.
