In order to provide good quality of service and high standard coffee, food and beverage to our customer, Starbucks spends effort in hiring the right person. They select applicant who are good team player, outgoing that willing to communicate with customers and passionate with coffee and work.

Requirements

The position of each store is divided into barista, shift supervisors, assistance store managers, store managers, district Managers and Regional director. Every position has different minimum requirement for hire.

For barista, the applicants must be form five graduates, able to speak fluent Cantonese and general English and Putonghua, able to read and write Chinese and English, also no experience required. The barista applicants no need to know how to brew coffee before they hire, because they will have relevant training after they hire.

The requirement of shift supervisor are similar with barista, the difference is the applicants should have retail management experience, ever worked at coffee shop and possess the necessary skills and knowledge of coffee.

About store managers and district managers, the applicants should have post-secondary or above level, at less two and five years retail management experience.

Selection Method

After receiving the applicant’s application likes CV or resume, the Starbucks Human Resource Staff will then select the applicant that able to fulfills the requirement of the particular position and notice them to have interview by calling the applicant phone.

Since Starbucks belonging to service industry, it is vital that every employee should have good communication skill. Therefore Starbucks choose interview method to select the staff because it is easier to distinguish and compare which applicants are the most appropriate with this job by screening and asking applicants question during interview process.
