Ethical Standards for Non-For Profit & For Profit Companies

There are several different companies or organizations that are in society that are Non-For Profit or For Profit. The two companies or organizations that I am going to write about are the United Service Organizations; which is better known as the USO and the Ford Motor Company. I am going to give a profile or lay out of each company, then some of the ethical issues each may have. The first organization is the non-for profit; which is the USO.

The United Service Organizations or USO as most individuals know it as is an organization that is Not-for-Profit. Their area of interest is to “lift the spirits of America’s troops and their families” (USO, 2013) whenever possible. The history goes back as far as World War II and President Franklin Roosevelt. In 1941 several organizations like the Salvation Army, YMCA, and YWCA bonded together to help the growing number of troops that were involved in WW II. President Roosevelt created the USO so those organizations could work together to provide emotional support for the troops. Over the years the USO has evolved into new programs and services to help soldiers and their families. Some of the services or activities that the USO provides are entertainment tours, or USO stops in airports. The entertainment tours are originally movie stars, or singers that go to place were soldiers are stationed outside of the U.S. to provide some uplifting entertainment to the troops.
