INTRODUCTION ABOUT THE COMPANY:

AJINOMOTO (MALAYSIA) BERHAD.

The story began with taste, when Professor Kikunae Ikeda from the University of Tokyo isolated glutamate from the seaweed and discovered its flavour enhancing properties in 1908. The next year, his discovery was introduced to the market in the form of the flavour enhancer AJI-NO-MOTO which means the Essence of Taste (scientifically, it is termed as Monosodium Glutamate, or MSG in short.)

Today, AJI-NO-MOTO is sold more than 100 countries, and Ajinomoto Group's 15 factories around the world are supplying about one-third of the 1.5 million-ton global markets for monosodium glutamate. Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Berhad is engaged in the manufacturing and selling of monosodium glutamate and other related products. Its retail products include AJI-NO-MOTO MSG, TUMIX stock seasoning powder, VONO cup soup, SERI-AJI ready to cook seasoning powder, AJI-SHIO flavored pepper, black pepper and iodized salt, PAL SWEET low calorie sweetener, Slim Up and AJI MIX seasoning. Its other industrial products include HVP, AJI-AROMA, AJI-PLUS and AJIMATE. The Company markets its products in Malaysia, the Middle East and in other Asian countries.

Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Berhad started its business operations in 1961 as AJI-NO-MOTO monosodium glutamate producer. It is also one of the very first Japanese joint-venture companies to be set up in this country. Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Berhad has since grown into a dynamic food seasoning manufacturer marketing diverse brand name that is trusted by Malaysian for decades. The chairman, independent Non- Executive Director for Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Berhad is, Gen (R) Tan Sri (Dr) Dato’ Paduka Mohammed Hashim Bin Mohd. Ali.
