Executive Summary
On April 27th 2014 I had the pleasure of interviewing Amanda McQuinn, who is a General Manager with Hardee’s Inc. (SW Georgia Region). Ms. McQuinn offered a great deal of insight regarding the employee/managerial dynamics within her establishment.
Value of Team Environment
After speaking with my interviewee, I was made aware of the importance that she places upon a team oriented workplace. The company she works for has a very strong team work ethic, which makes for a smooth running business. Each employee is aware of the importance of working together for a common goal. When one of the team members is missing in action it is like a body missing a limb. Each team member must struggle to remain in control.
Job Satisfaction
While Ms. McQuinn incorporates a number of effective policies focused on an employee’s job satisfaction, I can see potential for improvement; I believe there are several ways to achieve this. I believe that in this instance, a better rate of pay and lack of available benefits are the main issues for employees who are less than satisfied within their current position. Better benefit packages could be explored. While budgeting concerns may restrict salary increases, less invasive strategies could be a viable alternative. I would suggest a reward system which would offer incentives to those who go above and beyond their duties.
Communication
Communication regarding company changes is primarily executed through company emails and daily memos, which seem to be working very well. When asked what happens when computers are down, Amanda responded “My District Manager is always on top of it. He’s on the phone daily making sure we understand what the day’s mission is.” It would appear as though communication skills are a strength within this company.
