Goals regarding safety are best accomplished by collaboration with others, whether in a sports arena or in the workplace. In order to accurately avoid injuries teamwork on the job requires both thoughtfulness and responsibility on the behalf of all parties involved. One may be required to clean up a mess and/or spill that may have been caused by someone other than themselves in an effort to avoid injury. In order to reach the desired goal, “safety” it’s vital that everyone is held accountable. With the goal “safety above all else” this goal is very practicable.

In the field of nursing, patient’s safety is paramount. Patient’s safety is when the patient does not experience unnecessary harm or preventable suffering doing there hospital stay or visit (Clark, White & Robson, 2013, p. l). Injury to staff personnel may directly affect patient care. The safety of patients is essential for all healthcare providers. The National Advisory Group on the Safety of Patients in England says, “Patient safety sciences should be an integral part of clinicians’ preparation for practice and their lifelong education” (Clark, White & Robson, 2013, p. l). Therefore, parent’s safety should be integrated into the policies and procedures to provide support and accentuate behavioral expectations that promote the safety of patients, families, and staff.

Human factors contribute to safety and have been studied in the nuclear, rail and aviation industries (Clark, White & Robson, 2013 p. 1). As a Patient Access Representative assigned to an emergency room, I have witnessed several incidents of human error. There have been times when a patient’s name was entered incorrectly during the triage registration process as well as lab work labeled erroneously. Often such errors are identified by nurses and /or lab technicians.
