Problem-Solving Process: Part I
Assignment Directions
In this assignment, you will identify both a problem and an issue that are affecting your life. Examples of situations could include working for an unfair boss, relationship problems, behaviors of coworkers, financial challenges, social situations, political trends, having a fear of being laid off, considering ending an unhappy relationship, experiencing behavior problems with children, or being on academic probation. Refer to Chapter 7 in The Art of Thinking to complete this assignment. Remember to provide details, use complete sentences, and proper academic writing in your responses below.

What is a problem and what is an issue? What are the differences between the two? Answer this question in 100- to 150-words. (See pages 125-128 of The Art of Thinking to understand the differences between problems and issues.) |

Solving a problem means how can we change the uncomfortable situation and make it acceptable. Solving an issue means making the most reasonable decision on a belief or a view point. In addition, we can often use “How can…?” to express our problems, and use “is…?”, “Does…?”, or “Should…?” to express our issues. |
