1. To what extent might a knowledge of elasticity be useful to a company, in the formation of a strategy to maximise profits. The discussion in your essay, should apply theory to a known company / companies

3. Do the recent government interventions in the UK, taking banks into public ownership, operating quantitative easing measures to reflate the economy and the calls for price ceilings in energy markets, suggest that the UK is becoming more centrally planned.

4. To what extent might the UK’s increasing reliance on the tertiary sector, limit the opportunities to exploit the income earnings potential, presented by export markets.

5. To what extent should government intervene in the economy to address inequalities, externalities and the provision of merit or demerit goods. This discussion should include references to firms or industries which have been affected by such government intervention.

6. Does evidence suggest that an economy would gain benefit from taking a more laissez faire approach towards oligopoly conduct or through imposing tighter control.

7. It is argued that Corporate Social Responsibility is now central to the strategy of successful firms. Discuss this argument, citing examples from known cases.
