Subject Aims:
• Appreciate the challenges of effectively delivering IT (and potentially other) consulting services
• Understand how internal IT providers and external consultancies address those challenges
• Understand how to plan and execute a consulting assignment
• Understand the personal behaviours needed for the delivery of IT services
• Develop professional skills relevant to the delivery of IT services and advice
• Improve your professional communication skills
• Learn the basics of negotiation in a consulting context
• Understand what the academic literature can contribute to the development of your consulting skills
Incorporate what you learn into your own work practices
This subject aims to make you a better professional – whether you work in industry or academe, within a business or as an external consultant, within IT or in another professional role.
It’s our goal to make it the most valuable subject you ever do at university. It’s a big challenge in six days: and will require that you do more than attend the classes and complete the assignments. Everyone is expected to participate to the full extent of their abilities (and to be prepared to stretch those limits).

Students are expected to attend all classes – and to arrive on time and in good shape (recognising that Saturday and Sunday mornings can be tough!).
