As a society we have based a great leader on a good communicator which isn’t always the case they could be strong in that area but not have any leadership skills.
Examples of great leaders
- Hitler, Malcom-X, Jesus, Moses….
o A great leader depends on the definition being defined. We live in a pluralistic world. Ex. Tolerant.. what is the def. to one person is different to someone else but both might think they are on the same page.
o All are filtered to some point but need to be defined at some point so chaos doesn’t happen. (boundaries)
Nehemiah
- Jew who is working for king Z. serving him while hearing that Jerusalem walls were coming down. So he mourned and fasted.
o Takes a risk to leave to Jerusalem with a letter of approval.
o Finds the city all in shambles.
▪ God reveals a sign to him to rebuild the city.
▪ Built the entire wall in sections
• Was a risk b/c all men are building walls
• Half built the wall half watched out b/c of threats.
- While all this was going on he organized a plan to help the poor.
o A good leader adjust based on circumstances.
▪ Wall is finished they created boundaries.
• Ex. Poor breed people. Tithing.
▪ Overall it was the work of God so they praised him. (humble)
o Ex. Guinness during a poor economic time they built more breweries for more jobs
▪ 1700 also built housing for workers while employing doctors and nurses to care for the employees.
▪ Need to remember those who are helping instead of end results.

o Fast and prays (we need to not only believe but rely on God)
