Effects of Population Density and noise

There is a variety of ways that population density and noise effect individuals. There are an uncountable amount of variables that effect one’s health and behavior. Ones physical environments can affect ones behavior and health, due to population density and environmental noise, (Cohen, Glass, & Phillips, 1979). After many hours of research data is now available on how important it is to take all variables in to determining how much effect it has ones behavior and health. Overcrowding can increase the risk of infectious and noninfectious diseases, as well as the increase of social problems in the area, (Cohen, Glass, & Phillips, 1979).

When noise causes irritation and lack of sleep over a prolonged period of time can cause an aggravated mental illness. Noise can also be responsible for disorganization in ones’ personal life. Other studies have revealed that noise exposer can cause and increase in anxiety as well as stress responses, (Cohen, Glass, & Phillips, 1979). When a noise is in a high population density area for a prolonged period of time hearing problems can also develop.

Personal space

Personal Space is a zone in with has an emotional connection to the individual, as well as identified as one’s own space. Personal Space is associated with ones, ”culture, gender, age, personality factors and the specific situation”,(personal space 2004). The concept of personal space was presented first in social psychological reading materials and is also known as ones bubble, area, ect. Personal Space enters popular culture, air planes, homeless shelters, and corporations have all taken personal space into equation when developing buildings, and transporting, and housing people as well as public transportation, (Personal space 2004).
