Health Care Interview

The following is a summary of the interview with Susan Shramek, who has worked as a Certified Surgical Technician (CST) for over 25 years, and for the last 2 years she has held the position of Administrative Supervisor of Surgical and Obstetric Technicians for Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center located in Torrance California.

Susan worked as a medical back office assistant early in her career, but her passion for surgery lead her to seek a career as a CST. She worked in many different surgical settings before she opted for a career in Women’s Health. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree she accepted the position of Administrative Supervisor of CST and Obstetric Technicians, where she can use her experience and skills to guide her team to provide a high quality of care for the patients in the Women’s and Children’s department.

Description of Department or Facility

Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center, a member of Providence Health and Services, is a full service hospital offering a complete health care delivery system. The Women’s and Children’s service is focused around family centered care, offering complete care that includes care for women and their children before and during pregnancy, through labor and delivery and post-partum. The neonatal intensive care unit offers expert care to neonates, and as the child grows a full service pediatric unit is available to follow the patient.

Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center is committed to caring for women throughout their lives, providing a full spectrum of care for their gynecologic health and wellbeing, and provides expert diagnosis and individualized care using the latest treatments available.
