Introduction

This paper will examines team effectiveness with my current organization. At my current employer there is an Advisory Team called the “Site Action Committee”. This team has approximately fifteen predominately employees from different departments within the organization to include human resource, supervisor and manager. This team assists with identifying challenges and makes recommendations which are shared with the decision makers of the organization. “Site Action Committee” is called the ambassadors of the organization since; they interact and collaborate daily with their peers and management to achieve the common goal of the organization.

Team Effectiveness Analysis

In order to continue the team must understand meaning of team effectiveness. Team plays a vital role for organizational success. The team focuses on sustaining the goals of organization to achieve its objectives. The team members must be committed for both theirs and organization survival. There are several models that were created to assist the team to be more effective.

Organizational and Team Environment

McShane and Von Glinow (2012) mentioned that organizational and team environment consist of rewards, communication, physical space, organizational structure, environment and leadership. Team-based reward system causes team members to work effectively to promote teamwork. The reward systems play a vital role in organizing team and performance; therefore, it is important to attract employees with the dominant skills and job knowledge. Reinforcing positive behavior through reward is important.

Reward is a strong motivator for the Site Action Committee at my company. Prior to me starting at this division, the team consists of five members and there was no structure to the meetings.
