This report is a summary of the management of Hotel Five Alive, based on its performance and competitors, and the key factors that have affected its performance.

Analysis consists of the different departments including room rates and forecasts, food & beverage, refurbishment, facilities, services, staffing and marketing & advertising, as well as notable events and review of decision.

3.1 Room Rates and Forecasts

Hotel Five Alive aimed to place itself in the luxury four star category, which would be known as a hotel that would provide as many services as possible at the best price from the start of the simulation. The strategy was therefore to ‘Maximise Occupancy’ and prices were at its lowest, particularly in the first quarter which was expected to be the most quiet time of the year. This period is when the hotel would be receiving the least number of guests both in terms of leisure as well as business travellers, and is often a direct results of people’s lowered disposable income after all the Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.
