Genes

1.Chromosomes - any of several threadlike bodies, consisting of chromatin, that carry the genes in a linear order: the human species has 23 pairs adding up to a total of 46, 23 from each of your parents.

DNA- (the genetic code) the molecule that carries genetic information in all living things. Each chromosomes are composed of DNA. The DNA molecule is formed in the shape of a double helix.

2. Our genes are defined by nucleotides. About 300 billion paired nucleotides make up the genes that determines an individual's biological development. There are for nucleotides: A for adenine, C for cytosine, G for guanine, and T for thymine. The arrangement of these letters make up the genetic code.

3. Traits and Disorders that are influenced by Biology

Traits: | Disorders: |

height | Alzheimer's Disease |

intelligence | alcoholism |

happiness | Schizophrenia |

aggressiveness | Reading disabilities |

Evolutionary Psychology

1. Natural Selection - the process by which living things inherit traits that contribute to reproduction and survival that will help them adapt to specific environmental pressures, such as predators, changes in climate, or competition for food or mates. They will tend to survive and reproduce in greater numbers than others of their kind, thus ensuring the continuation of those favorable traits in succeeding generations.

Mutations- random errors in gene replication that leads to a change in the sequence of nucleotides. An example. is Down Syndrome. In this case, a piece of DNA is duplicated.

2.Evolutionary psychologists study the evolution of the mind by using the principals of natural selections.

3.When it comes to sex men are more recreational and women are more relational. Biology states that the reason for this is because when sperm is compared to egg it is cheap. While a female produces and nurses ONE child, a man cam spread his genes by impregnating MULTIPLY females.
