Laboratory Title: Soldering Techniques and the Electronic Die Kit

Submittal Date: 6/1/2014

Objectives:

1. To learn the basics of soldering.

2. To produce mechanically and electrically sound solder joints.

3. To assemble the electronic die kit.

Results:

It was stressful the first few solders it did but after a while I got the hang of it. But when it was all said and done I had a work die circuit board.

Conclusions:

I found this process to be interesting and fun at the same time, I have learning about the important of the placement of the components and about soldiering & soldering safety.

Observations/Measurements:

Describe any problems you had with assembling the analog meter kit.

One of the problems was missing parts. The battery hook up was missing I had to take it from an old smoke detector so I could finish my project.

Questions:

1. What is the purpose of core in hollow solder wire?

To aid in the soldiering process a chemical called flux helps keep the surfaces clean by removing the oxidation. This help the success rate of the soldier making a good connection.

2. What is tinning, and why is it important?

Tinning gets the enamel coating off of the wire or component which will promote a good connection with the soldier. This will ensure that you project will work correctly. Tinning the tip help to keep the tip clean.

3. Why is safety so important when soldering?

Soldering is a handy tool in connection all the component together, but it can be very dangerous it the proper precaution are on taken. Please don’t wear any loose...
