streng STRENGHTS * Proven Track Record - Strong track record in corporate and financial management (Former CEO – Maybank, TM, UEM Group) * Visionary – He foreseen beyond the limit and ruled out a strategic plan in achieving the goals – He announced a strategic plan to grow global Islamic Finance Market ( RM1Bil worth - 2012) * Good Communication Skill – He managed to deliver his speech very well and instil confidence. * Well Educated – He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (United Kingdom) and a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. * Professionally-enriching – He is willing to try something new and easily can adapt to changes. (from a CEO to a Minister) | WEAKNESSES * Not a People Person - The union says Abdul Wahid Omar's track record as the Maybank CEO, and with Telekom Malaysia before that, was never in favour of the employees.- He seemed not to handle the HR issue properly – For instance, he failed to rule out a new HR policy caused the worker collateral agreement due on March 2010. * He is also not a risk taker, during his time much of the focus was only in Asia market, hence limited global penetration for Maybank. * In respect to his current position as a Minister, he seems not to tackle a certain issue properly. As a person who directly involves in economic transformation program, he should take the initiative to rule out a strategic plan in communicating the objective and strategic plan of the program to the society. |
