How to get average or “mean” if 5 numbers for example, add all 5 numbers, and then divide by 5

Types of Statisitics. Example: the average age of Qataris living in Ain Khalid, average length of books about statistics.

Inferntial-

Population vs Sample

Population Allmembers of a group from which you want to draw a conclusion

-for example, all residents aged 45 and over, all male patients treated at Al Wakra Hospital in 2013.

Sample-------- the part of the population selected for analysis, for example residents aged 45 and over living in West bay; male patients involved in road accidents treated at Al Wakra in 2013 etc…

Variables- A characteristic of an item or individual that will be analyzed using statistics. For example : Gender. Age, household income of residents living in a specific geographic area

Ethnicity.

Categotical variables : these variables are selected from an establuished list of categories. Example : categories “male and “female”
