Are people really psychic?

By: Alex Stairs

Are people really psychic? This is the question that everyone is dying to know. It is not yet proven that it is real, but it is not proven to be fake. Many people don’t believe in it, but that could just be because they haven’t experienced it themselves. There is quite a bit of information on this subject and there many people that strongly believe in it. But, is it real?

A psychic person is someone who is able to sense things that are not available through ordinary sensory perceptions (“What is a Psychic?”, http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-psychic.htm). Many people lie about their psychic ability for publicity reasons, so it’s hard to believe which is which. Douglas De Long says in the article “The Brain and the Mind” that the brain is a biochemical organ. Its part of the human body, but the mind is a psychic organ that is attached to the human soul (“The Brain and the Mind”, http://www.llewellnjournal.com/article/628). Some psychic ability’s are said to be precognition, déjà vu, past life recall, clairaudience, and clairvoyance (“The Brain and the Mind”, http://www.llewellnjournal.com/article/628). One of the seven major energy centers of the brain, the crown chakra, is said to have chi-universal energy forces flowing from the crown to the top of the head (“The Brain and the Mind” http://www.llewellnjournal.com/article/628). The rational explain psychic energy as a force of strong, powerful and all pervasive but invisible mental waves, which can travel across the ‘worlds’ and accomplish deeds which ordinary human beings can only dream of (“Psychic Energy”, http://psychic.com.au/psychic-energy.html).

Not many people believe in psychics, but many people take polls to see who does and doesn’t. A poll of 439 college students conducted in 2006 suggested that college seniors and graduate students were more likely to believe in psychic phenomena than college freshmen (“Psychic”, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychic)....
