Environmental science is the study of how living and non living things interact with the environment and how much impact humans have on these components. Environmental science is a broad science area which involves many different fields of study. (Hartwick College, 2013) .

• How does the relationship between science and technology affect environmental problems and solutions in today's society?

Science and technology have been and will be ways to study the environment and the issues that are occurring including climate change, pollution and the reduction in natural resources. Over the past thirty years scientist have studied air pollution and how it is affect the environment which has led to new technology to monitor air quality.

Also science and technology have developed new engines and manufacturing plants that reduce pollution back into the environment. Automobiles produce lower volumes of carbon dioxide then they did thirty years ago because technology was developed because of legislation that set standards that automobile manufactures had to meet by a certain deadline. Science and technology will be relied on to help fix the ozone layer and try to reverse the effects of global warming.

• Why is the concept of environmental sustainability important, and why should it be studied? What are the historical patterns surrounding sustainable and unsustainable human interactions with the environment?

Environmental sustainability is very important because natural resources are very limited and some are not renewable. There are ways to sustain and make environmental resources last longer.
