Always Moving Forward

Some people can say they started from the bottom, and worked themselves to the top. A select group of people can call themselves billionaires. There are a meniscal amount of people that can say they are black billionaires in America. Oprah Gail Winfrey has earned the right to be able to agree to these statements. The world renowned television talk show host use to loom in the dark shadows of the world, and now shines brightly in the limelight. From the trials and tribulations she faced to the various lives she has affected, people have heard her story. Even with that being said, her story still rang no bells to me. My sole purpose for choosing Oprah Winfrey for my research topic is to change that. I feel the importance of having an understanding of the struggles and accomplishments some of our famous black Americans faced. Due to the fact they helped form a foundation for young African Americans, like me. My goal to unveil and utilize some of Oprah’s key success factors and leadership values into my future life.

I chose to do my research paper on Oprah Winfrey because I felt I did not know what the average person knows about her. Granted, everyone has heard the successes of the influential, philanthropic, and powerful African-American woman. I could not fathom how she emerged into a position of such power and fame. I acquired to learn a more in depth understanding of the severe conditions and harsh realities she endured. Even more importantly how she prevailed over adversity to become the world renowned professional and role model we know today. This paper stands formatted in chronologic order. Starting with her birth then leading to elaborating how Oprah overcame various obstacles and struggles, which cultivated her into the miraculous woman she remains celebrated for today.
