Why Extraverts Are Not Always the Most Successful Bosses

Which character is the best in leadership style?

Extroverted and introverted concepts invented by Carl Gustav Jung, who founded analytical psychology, he believed that every people falls into one of these concept. While extroverted people are mostly charismatic, talkative, and well-spoken, introverted people are empathetic, sensitive and creative.

For years, the common wisdom was that people who is extroverted have the required characteristics for leadership such as enthusiasm, ability to motivate workers, and ability to connect people in a group. This assumption also was placed in human brain and people always questioned themselves whether they take on leadership enough or not.

Our case mentioned that introverts can make good leaders as well. According to recent study in our case, extroverted leaders can be more successful when they paired with introverted followers. Moreover, introverted leaders can be more successful when they paired with proactive followers as well. Pairing introverted leaders with passive followers or extroverted people with proactive followers, resulted in worst performance. Lesson we learn from this research, being an extrovert doesn’t pay off in all circumstances.

In my opinion, to become successful in business life, a leader should know the type of leadership he/she needs in his/her organization and he/she engages people based on their strengths. Because, leaders will have to deal with many people in different personalities in an organization. When the leaders have to deal with an introverted followers, they have to respect their privacy, give them time to think and encourage them every moment. Likewise, when the leaders have to deal with an extroverted followers, they have to respect their independence and compliment them when they moving forward.
