SEA Project: Beer Questionnaire

The SEA project that was assigned to the College Math II Fall 2013 class had the students use
the principles that were discussed in Chapters 9 and 10 to create a survey of our choice. The
topic that I chose to have represented in this project was that of the possible beer consumption of
20 individuals. I chose this topic because beer is a very common beverage for individuals over
the age of 21 to drink. I also knew that I could round up quite a few questions on this topic just
because of the frequent use of numbers that I could use in the survey, i.e. number of beers
consumed, how many days a week do you drink, different types of beer, etc. The completion of
this survey gave great feedback and solidified what I had already concluded before starting the
project concerning the difference in consumption between men and women.
I purposely picked 10 males and 10 females to take the survey to get a good idea of
the difference in alcohol consumption, if any at all, between men and women. I created a total of
17 questions to ask each individual to find out their specific background information and
relationship with alcoholic beverages. I started off with 7 questions regarding the individuals
age, gender, race, marital status, home of record, number of dependents (if any), and highest
level of education completed. These questions were designed to relate the answers from the rest
of the survey with a statistical notions of how these factors influence the consumption of alcohol
in men and women .
The fact that I used military members as the subjects for the survey gave me varying
information when charting this information. The people who were surveyed are from all over the
country, they come from different backgrounds and have different views on drinking alcohol.
