By issuing service request SR-rm-004, Riordan Manufacturing demonstrates their desire to develop a comprehensive view of their existing Human Resources Information System. This project is tasked with developing a strategy for fulfilling Riordan Manufacturing’s service request, to include an in-depth evaluation of its current Human Resource department, identifying gaps that may be bridged with either upgrades or the introduction of new systems to improve management effectiveness and efficiency. The results, interpretations and implications of this evaluation, along with recommendations will be detailed in this report.
Riordan is seeking an upgraded state-of-the-art information system for their human resource department at Riordan. In this paper I will identify and describe each phase of this new system development life cycle project. Riordan Manufacturing is comprised of several companies and divisions. Riordan Manufacturing is a global plastics manufacturer employing 550 people with projected annual earnings of $46 million. The company is wholly owned by Riordan Industries, a Fortune 1000 enterprise with revenues in excess of $1 billion. Human Resources consist of a Human Resources Information System, part of a financial systems package implemented in 1992. The Human Resource Information System consists of, Job Classifications, Job Descriptions, Policies and Procedures, Human Resources Information System (HRIS), EEOC Reports, Work Force Demographics, Employees, Employee Files, Reports, Communications and Employee Handbook. The Human Resource Information System is fairly complete but the Human Resource Department needs to focus more on an overseas HRIS, due to the projected growth in the Chinese Division of Riordan Manufacturing.
