Over the course of the year I have learned new things and met new people. This year was a whole new experience for me. I was in a band before but this band was a lot different from my old band that I played in 6 grades. One thing that is different; we didn’t have to know how to read music. All the fingerings were written on our sheets of music. Another difference was that we didn’t have a marching Band. So learning how to march and play at the same time was definitely something new. In addition to that I had to learn the musical scales, the fingerings and how to count out rhythms for my instrument. I would just like to say I enjoyed concert Band but at time it was challenging and demanding, but a good challenge. I feel like I have improved as a player because I have become better at knowing my fingerings and knowing when to tongue the notes. My poise has all so improved because now I sit up and play. One of my weaknesses as a musician is staccato notes because for so long before coming to Bradley high I just play no tongue just straight no staccato. But I am still learning my instrument. I try to practice 2 hour a day, but I don’t always get to practice this long because things come up in life. To me practicing means sitting down and taking a piece and playing it until it’s perfect or close to. Practicing also means staying away from distractions such as TV , texting and other things. I think during the first quarter my attitude was not at what it should have been. But by second quarter after Mr. White pull me aside and talked to me about a whole attitude change and I thank Mr. white for doing that. I am in band because I like hearing music, all different kinds of music. I participate in it because I wanted to give band another try and was thinking about making music. Next year in band there will be many more people in there, so I will have more people to learn from. I don’t know what my role will be in band but I plan to get better. I would like to...
