Motivation

In a country where obesity is at an all-time high and unemployment is rapidly increasing, it makes one wonder if the key to turning things around to the positive is to address the lethargic behavior of the masses. I honestly feel that we have faith, but its motivation that we lack.

But, what is motivation? Well, Webster’s Dictionary defines motivation as, the act or process of giving someone a reason for doing something. If we don’t possess a reason to complete a task or even start one what would the outcome be? I frequently ask myself the question, “why am I doing this”. The decision to attend GCU was motivation in itself. My long term goal includes pastoring therefore; I am motivated to complete my degree plan to accomplish my goal. My family’s financial state was another motivator.

Motivation is vital for student success as a matter of fact is required. Without motivation or a reason to complete assignments, grades will slowly decrease. Discussion Forums are important as well, if we need help with an assignment or simply by reading post we will see that we are not alone and even some of our student struggle are similar. This connection will help me to say motivated because most of us have jobs and family as well as many distractions, if my classmate are finding time to participate and maintain a decent grade point average so can I.

People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily. (Zig Ziglar)
